Road to the Ironman – This is it, there is no turning back…

February 1, 2010 will go down as big date for me in 2010. The reason this date is my official kick off date to training for the Ironman. 223 days away still seems like a lifetime but it will be here in no time. It is in my every thought…I dream about it often…and I continue to look for the answer all search for when they take on such a challenge.

Will I be ready?

So for giggles today I kind of had my own little Ironman today. The goal was to see if I could push myself through some pain physically and mentally. At the end of the day I would say I passed.

Bike – 2hrs – 35 miles – on the bike trainer

Run – 1hr – 7.10 miles, on treadmill 1/2 hills and 1/2 speed

Swim – 1 hr – 3000 yards – pool

As I say good bye to my base training and look forward to my Ironman training which means the fun is only beginning. I start with at least some confidence and realize I have come a long way in my pursuit of being a triathlete. In the beginning I started out just going out as fast and long as I could in any distance. Now I have a better understanding about heart rate, nutrition, and what I can do to better focus on the goal. Don’t get me wrong swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles, and running a marathon is still a huge challenge!

Will I be ready?
