The banana split that has the calories of two full meals
What is polysorbate 80? I don’t know…and why would you put that in your mouth? I thought is was time to give dessert its due. All desserts are bad for you…maybe. Most are really yummy…I agree! In fact for those who know me there are three basic food groups when it comes to dessert.
- Chocolate
- Carmel
- Peanut Butter
If a dessert has one of these, it is automatically good. Two? Watch out…If three are involved? Angels sing down from heaven!!!!!
So today’s nutrition post focuses on the good old banana split. Who hasn’t had a banana split in there lifetime or may two, three, four or more.

Directions
- Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat
- Slice bananas in half crosswise, the length wise
- Place banana quarters in the hot pan with the brown sugar and cook on one side until deeply caramelized, about 2 minutes
- Turn bananas ver and cook for another 30 seconds
- Remove from heat and add in the rum (be careful of the alcohol can ignite
- Place 2 banana quarters and any accumulated liquid in each of the 4 bowls
- Top with the ice cream, nuts, chocolate and whipped topping
Remember this is 4 SERVINGS not ONE! About a third of the calories, saves $5.20 and has a hint of RUM, not bad. Thanks to the folks at COOK THIS NOT THAT once again.
