The Road to the Ironman – 200 days away
200 days to the big day! On that day most of you know I will pursue a dream that I have had for sometime. 200 days seems like such a landmark, 165 down but there is still more than six months to go. How many of you get to pursue such a task that when you come through the other side you will be a changed person? That is what an Ironman is to me and many others… A Life Changing Moment! I guess I may have mentioned this once or twice before. There are so few things in life that are as monumental. I suppose having a child and a wedding could be up there, but there is one main difference you are doing this life changing moment alone. That is not to say there is not support from others but even they don’t grasp the magnitude of such a moment in ones life. Maybe I making too much out of this, but when I have talked to others who have done an Ironman their responses are all the same, Life Changing! Maybe it is the excitement that I am going to accomplish something so few try to do or even think of doing. I am not sure, but I am glad of my mid life crisis. That is wired to most, because most dread that time in their life, but I have embraced it and I am proud of the person I have become. I am so much better today than I was say 5 years ago. Does that mean my journey will end when I cross that finish line on September 12, 2010? No! In fact hell no! I am not sure what life will bring after completing such an event, but the path I am currently on will not stop. It is just another chapter in the book I am writing called life. I love that I live life, instead of waiting for life to happen. The road to the Ironman has lived up to everything and more. As I continue to move through life the journey seems full of opportunities and I will continue to search them out.
It will be a lighter week, after 3 to 4 weeks of hard workouts.
