The Road to the Ironman – Just like the old days
Sometimes you have to say enough is enough! I mean after months of worrying about how many miles I am suppose to run or how many hours I am suppose to run. Or how about many yards in the pool today? Looking down at that line for an hour or so can get rather boring. And wondering if I am ever going to ride 100 miles on the bike is just plainly enough for one to get a bit depressed. I had enough today! I did something I might have to do a little more often, I simply worked out! How’s that any different the the running, swimming or biking I was just talking about, you might say? Well that is simple, I did what I wanted to do, at the speed I wanted to do it at and I did it for as long as I wanted to do it.
StairMaster for an 1 hour
Ran on the treadmill for a 1/2 hour at 7.0 mph
Weights for 15 minutes
Done
This accomplished a few things
- It reminded me of my old workouts that helped me lose the 70lbs.
- I simply lost myself in my thoughts. I didn’t have to worry about counting laps, watching for cars on the bike or wonder why my hip hurts while I run.
- I smiled and sweated a lot.
I just might do that again this weekend. I do have a small race this Sunday and all this exercise might just make a bit tired, but I am willing to chance it as long as I am enjoying exercising once more. Soon it will be back to the grind, hopefully a little fresher and more focused.
