Quiz Answer 4 of 5
How much do Americans spend o obesity related health issues every year?
a. $147 million
b. $1.47 billion
c. $147 billion
The answer is $147 billion.
Here is Chicago there is a radio station I listen too often called WGN. I like the broadcasters, plus in the summer it is the Cubs station. I noticed something lately about their commericials, nearly 1/3 of them during an hour are about weight loss. Now I understand it is the time of the year these types of commericials happen because of the New Year. Still I am shocked by the promises these commericials make. Basically you do nothing, don’t change your diet, no need to workout and simply swallow this pill or get this surgery and all your problems are sloved. Do people really believe these claims? I guess they do. Always looking for the short cuts, the simple solutions and spend money (a lot of money $147 billion), but yet we as Americans face more than half of us are overweight and obese. Shouldn’t that tell you these magical pills, super diets or life saving surgeries simply don’t work?
What is the answer? Simple (OK not so simple) but it is calories in and calories out. Burn more than you take in and slowly the weight comes off. Eat right and exercise, are not as exciting as those magical claims but this is the only lifestyle change one needs to live healthy and fitter.

Quiz Answer 3 of 5
The answer to #3 was a shocker to me so I can only guess what others will think of this answer. As a reminder here is the question.
How much do Americans spend on gastric bypass surgery every year?
a. $44 million
b. $440 million
c. $4.4 billion
The answer is $4.4 billion! 220,000 people get this surgery in a year with the average cost of this surgery be $20,000! Wow!!! It is sad that there are that many people so desparate to get this invasive surgery. It just shows the extreme people will take to lose weight. I will say it again this is sad, because without any facts I would have to believe a good portion of these people will go back to being overweight or obese in time. Why? Because they chose a shortcut not a lifestyle. Want an example? Look no further than Al Roker from the Today show. I remember when he got this type of surgery a few years back, but have you seen him lately? Unless you choose to change your lifestyle you will get results from this surgery, but you are living on borrowed time. There are no shortcuts that work for a lifetime.

How much can a family of 4 save in a year by swapping one meal out for one meal at home every day?
a. $876
b. $8,760
c. $18,760
The answer to #2 is B. $8,760! So if a family swaps one outside meal a day for one home meal they can save almost $9,000 that year! This Biggest Loser quiz based this off a family spending $24 on this meal. $24? really I would think a family of 4’s bill would be larger than $24 especially when you add in the tax and tip.
